Rebecca Martin and Larry Grenadier at the Jazz Gallery October 16th.
NEW YORK TIMES: As jazz singers go, Rebecca Martin exudes the plainest sort of poise, almost radical in its utter lack of flash. She appears here in the sparsest but most companionable of settings: backed only by her husband, the fine bassist Larry Grenadier. They’re playing a residency, one night a month through next month, and drawing from a forthcoming album on Sunnyside, “Twain.” At 9 and 10:30 p.m., Jazz Gallery, 290 Hudson Street, at Spring Street, South Village, (212) 242-1063,jazzgallery.org; $20 cover, $10 for members. (Chinen)
On October 16th, the two will be joined by Pete Rende (Piano) and Jorge Rossy (Drums).
